From a compromised AWS account to a team that does not think about IT any more.

Cryptocurrency miners got into a nonprofit's AWS environment through an exposed credential. They did not need a patch. They needed someone to rebuild the security posture and then stay on as the person who watches it.
The situation
Talking Bibles International came to us after cryptocurrency miners compromised their AWS environment through an exposed credential. A small nonprofit with no internal IT function had an active intrusion and a cloud bill climbing because of it.
What we did
We remediated the intrusion, then rebuilt the posture underneath it: endpoint protection deployed, access controls locked down, monitoring put in place so the next anomaly surfaces before the invoice does.
We also audited every tool they were paying for. Some got cut. The rest got configured properly.
Where it landed
The engagement became an ongoing managed IT retainer. The team focuses on getting audio Bibles to people who cannot read them, and the technology stays out of the way.
